Critical realism: the philosophy of knowledge that is missing from the Curriculum for Wales

The new Curriculum for Wales seeks to develop young people who are ethical, informed citizens of and the world committed sustainability planet. While curriculum requires integration subject knowledge, associated guidance fails suggest a philosophy knowledge inform such integration. Having linked political economy regimes truth, rule accumulation, this article draws on Gesturing Towards Decolonial Futures Collective’s typology social reform spaces consider politics in Wales. It then argues that should enable students articulate contest within across these spaces, form radical global citizenship education. Critical realism can guide delivery as it provides insights into inter-disciplinary enquiry, role critical pedagogy development learners non-dual beings at one with themselves other human non-human thereby prepared act seeking sustainability.
